Educational Trip to the West Coast, USA

A group of 21 students from classes VIII to XI and 2 teachers from Delhi Public School Gurgaon, embarked on a 10 day educational trip of the West Coast , USA, on 1st June 2016. The programme director Mr Siddharth Suri of Explorars accompanied the students.

The highlight of the trip was the road trip from Seattle to San Francisco and finally to Los Angeles. The students therefore got the opportunity to see the panoramic countryside of USA. The sweeping green forest cover, rolling hills, vast flatlands, winding valley roads, crystal clear lakes and snow capped mountains were sights that captivated everyone’s imagination.

The students had the opportunity to visit the Boeing factory and Future of Flight Centre in Seattle and Microsoft Headquarters in Redmond. They went for white water rafting in Salem and experienced the Wildlife Safari in Winston. They then visited the NASA AMES Research Centre, Intel Museum and Exploratorium in San Francisco. The visit to Stanford University with its impressive environs completely captivated and inspired the students.

In Los Angeles they visited the California Science Centre and went on a city tour, which included a visit to Beverley Hills and the oldest house in LA. Universal Studios was the high point of the LA leg of the trip. The students were completely captivated by the setups and exhilarating rides. Waterworld, Special Effects, Transformers, The Mummy, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Minions etc were some of the rides they especially enjoyed. The trip came to an end with a visit to the University of California, Los Angeles campus.
